About Us

Being students ourselves, we know about the frustrations that come along with being a college student: tuition increases, not finding the classes you need, maxed-out credit cards, not enough parking spots, just to name a few.  On top of it all, we still have to struggle to pay for high priced books each semester?  Well, we knew we couldn't fix everything at once, so we focused on the one thing, which we, as students, can have control over, and that is, where we get our books and how much we pay for them!  Nobody gets it; we're college students, we need stuff to be cheap or FREE!  We wanted a place where every college student can come and post books they have to sell, in one free, easy to find, central location.

Forget about going to online marketplaces that take 15% commission for you to sell your books on their site, and then make you wait 7-10 days until your book arrives!  BookDibs eliminates all that hassle. You simply post your book for sale, another student finds your book locally, contacts you, and you meet up and get cash right away. This way you are able to take advantage of the book’s residual value, and sell the book for much more than the bookstore would give you for it. Furthermore, the buyer can get a much better deal than any bookstore could offer for a used book. It’s a win-win situation for everyone!  Another cool feature we included, is the patent-pending ‘Dibs’ function. Using this function you can list your books for a future sale. So the second you buy the book from someone else, you're able to list it for sale immediately, and lock in a buyer for the end of the semester.  For the buyer, if you already know what classes you may be taking the next semester, you can call ‘Dibs’ on books for those courses, giving you one less thing to worry about when the next semester begins.  Keep your eye out for new features in the coming months. We’ll be adding a forum, online payment processing for out of school purchasing, and a messaging system!

Remember, we started this easy, excellent service just for you, our fellow students, so any suggestions for improvement or things you'd like to see, are welcome; please let us know!   All the best! – BD
